New Moon on Monday ~ Duran Duran

~ New Moon on Monday (single version) | Duran Duran ~

~ New Moon on Monday (Dance Mix) | Duran Duran ~

"New Moon on Monday" was Duran Duran's tenth single,
released in January 1984 from the album
Seven and the Ragged Tiger.

The single was a commercial success and one of the
band's biggest hits.  It reached #9 on the UK Singles
Chart, #10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, #4 on the
Canadian Singles Chart, #4 on the New Zealand
Singles Chart with less success in Australia and
the Scandinavian countries.

What's the song about?

Some say it is about the end of communism,
revolution or political struggles in general.
Most say it is about love and sex.

Who knows?  I could not find interviews
discussing the song with the guys.

For now, we will all have to speculate about
"Shake up the picture the lizard mixture" . . .
maybe it means nothing at all, just some
silly phrase to drive the fans crazy!

17 minute movie version

Shake up the picture the lizard mixture
With your dance on the eventide
You got me coming up with answers
All of which I deny
I said it again
Could I please rephrase it
Maybe I can catch a ride
I couldn't really put it much plainer
But I'll wait till you decide
Send me your warning siren
As if I could ever hide
Last time La Luna

I light my torch and wave it for the
New moon on Monday
And a firedance through the night
I stayed the cold day with a lonely satellite

Breaking away with the beast of both worlds
A smile that you can't disguise
Every minute I keep finding
Clues that you leave behind
Save me from these reminders
As if I'd forget tonight
This time La Luna
