The Faces ~ Ooh La La

This is another post in a continuing series of videos I have created as a tribute to my favorite songs of all time.

You could say that being a part of The Faces was the start of success for two of the most successful and enduring rock stars of our time, Rod Stewart and Ron Wood.

The Faces began as a collaboration of five guys from two relatively successful bands that had broken up . . . The Jeff Beck Group and The Small Faces.  The band and their sound was awesome, however, there was one problem . . . Rod Stewart had high aspirations for himself . . . he wanted to be a superstar.

As the group put out studio albums and regularly toured, Rod Stewart was pursuing his career as a solo artist.   As his success grew, so did the tension and resentment within the band.  In the end, Ron Wood started touring with The Rolling Stones and eventually joined the band . . . and he is currently a member of the band to this day.  The Faces broke up soon after.

Although attempts at reunions have been made through the years, the band that could have been never "was" again.  Blame it on ambition, aspirations . . . and egos.

Ooh La La has been one of my favorite songs since the first time I heard it . . . as a fan, I am grateful that the egos collided long enough to put out some awesome music.

Here is my tribute video to one of my favorite songs ~

Ooh LaLa | The Faces
Lyrics

written by
Ron Wood and Ronnie Lane

poor old Granddad, I laughed at all his words
I thought he was a bitter man
he spoke of women's ways
they'll trap you when they use you
before you even know
for love is blind and you're far to kind
don't ever let it show

I wish that I knew what I know now
when I was younger
I wish that I knew what I know now
when I was stronger

the can-can such a pretty show
will steal your heart away
but backstage back on earth again
the dressing rooms are grey
they come on strong and it ain't too long
for they make you feel a man
but love is blind and you soon will find
you're just a boy again

when you want her lips, you get her cheek
makes you wonder where you are
if you want some more then she's fast asleep
leaves you twinkling with the stars
poor young grandson there's nothing I can say
you'll have to learn, just like me
and that's the hardest way

ooh la la
ooh la la, la la, yeah

I wish that I knew what I know now
when I was younger
I wish that I knew what I know now
when I was stronger
