If That's Love - Laura Pausini

ahhhh a beautiful love song . . .
it describes my perfect kind of love!

~ If That's Love (Remix) | Laura Pausini ~

~ If That's Love (Original version) | Laura Pausini ~

The remix is my personal favorite!

Laura Pausini is an Italian pop singer, popular in several European, Latin American, and Middle Eastern countries, famed for her powerful voice, her romantic adult contemporary ballads and love songs. She is fluent in several languages and has recorded songs in Italian, Spanish and English. At the 2006 Grammy Awards, Pausini won Best Latin Pop Album for Escucha.

The song If That's Love peaked on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart at #1, although the album From The Inside did not get the success she expected in the United States.

The lack of success has been blamed on Atlantic Records' promotion strategy, which promoted it as a dance album rather than a pop album. When she asked to have From the Inside promoted in line with what she considers her singing style, they refused. Pausini, self-confident from her success in Europe and Latin America, went back to Italy, leaving From the Inside to its destiny.

If That's Love
Lyrics

If you're gonna break my heart and leave
Make promises you don't intend to keep
If that's love then I want no part
But if you think that love should last for life
If you believe it's more than just one night
If that's love then you've got my heart

And if you'd rather hold on to your pride
Than wipe away the tears you made me cry
If that's love then I want no part
But if you're gonna be there when I need
Someone to just hold me tenderly
If that's love then you've got my heart

If the kinda love that you bring
Comes with no demands and no strings
If in your eyes I see for sure
That you're the one I'm waiting for
I'll give my heart, my soul, my everything

If I have to let go of my dreams
Become someone I never never thought I'd be
If that's love than I want, I want no part
But if you're gonna be that kind of man
Who's willing just to take me as I am
If that's love then you've got my heart

Tell me in your arms I'll be safe,
Where loneliness and fear have no place
The only thing you have to do
The only thing I ask of you
Is give your heart, your soul and your faith

And if you cannot give those things to me
Then I just have to tell you honestly
If that's love I want no part
But if you say you've finally found in me
The only place that you could ever be
If that's love you've got my heart
If that's love baby you've got my heart
If that's love
If that's love
If that's love baby you baby you
You've got my heart

Dovè L'amore - Cher

"Come to me baby
Don´t keep me waiting
Another night without you here
And I´ll go crazy"

Cher has been the woman I have most
admired and wanted to be all my life.

Believe is my favorite of all her recordings.

Dove L'Amore
is my favorite of all her songs.

Dove L'Amore was the fourth international single release
from Cher's thirty-first album Believe, released in 1999.

It peaked at #1 on the US Billboard Dance Single Chart.

Dovè L'amore | Cher
Lyrics

Dove sei adesso?
Dove sei, amore mio?

Dov´è L´amore
Dov´è L´amore
I cannot tell you of my love
Here is my story

I´ll sing a love song
Sing it for you alone
Though you´re a thousand miles away
Love´s feeling so strong

Come to me baby
Don´t keep me waiting
Another night without you here
And I´ll go crazy

There is no other. There is no other
No other love can take your place
Or match the beauty of your face
I´ll keep on singing ´till the day
I carry you away

With my love song With my love song

Dov´è L´amore
Dov´è L´amore
Where are you now my love?
I need you here to hold me

Whispered so sweetly
Feel my heart beating
I need to hold you in my arms
I want you near me

Come to me baby
Don´t keep me waiting
Another night without you here
And I´ll go crazy

There is no other. There is no other
No other love can take your place
Or match the beauty of your face

Non c´è nessuno
bello come te, e ti amo

Another night without you here
And I´ll go crazy

There is no other. There is no other
No other love can take your place
Or match the beauty of your face

Androgyny - Garbage

"Behind closed doors and under stars,

It doesn't matter where you are,

Collecting jewels that catch your eye,

Don't let a soulmate pass you by"

lyrics from the song

Androgyny - Garbage

Boys . . . girls . . . the birds and the bees . . . no androgny . . . I love Shirley Manson's voice and I think I have everything ever recorded by Garbage, one of my favorite bands, a little edgy . . . great for today's mood.

Androgyny” was the first single from Beautiful Garbage, the third album by Garbage, released worldwide in September 2001.

While not being what is considered a success in major markets, the song reached the #1 spot in Mexico, Greece upon release, as well as the top tens of many South American and smaller European countries. It is also the second-highest charting Garbage single in New Zealand (after Push It).

Lyrics

When everything is going wrong
And you can't see the point of going on
Nothing in life is set in stone
There's nothing that can't be turned around

Nobody wants to be alone
Everybody wants to love someone
Out of the tree go pick a plum
Why can't we all just get along

Boys
Boys in the girl's room
Girls
Girls in the men's room
You free your mind in your androgyny
Boys
Boys in the parlor
Girls
They're getting harder
I'll free your mind in your androgyny

No sweeter a taste that you could find
Than fruit hanging ripe upon the vine
There's never been an oyster so divine
A river deep that never runs dry

What you need
What you need
What you need
What you need
What you need
What you need
What you need
What you need
What you need
What you need
What you need

The birds and the bees they hum along
Like treasure they twinkle in the sun
Get on board and have some fun
Take what you need to turn you on

Boys
Boys in the girl's room
Girls
Girls in the men's room
You free your mind in your androgyny
Boys
Boys in the parlor
Girls
They're getting harder
I'll free your mind
I'll free your mind
I'll free your mind
I'll free your

Boys
Behind closed doors and under stars
Girls
It doesn't matter where you are
Boys
Collecting jewels that catch your eyes
Girls
Don't let a soulmate pass you by

Boys in the girl's room
Girls in the men's room
You free your mind in your androgyny
Boys in the parlor
They're getting harder
I'll free your mind
I'll free your mind

Boys in the girl's room

Golden Lady - Stevie Wonder

~ Golden Lady | Stevie Wonder ~

"Looking in your eyes,

Kind of heaven eyes,

Closing both my eyes,

Waiting for surprise

To see the heaven in your eyes is not so far

Cause I'm not afraid to try and go it

To know the love and the beauty never known before

I'll leave it up to you to show it"

Golden Lady is one of my favorite songs from Stevie Wonder from his 1973 release of Innervisions. The song wasn't released as a single, nor did it hit the top ten Billboard charts.

The harmonic progressions and vocal melodies of the funky jazz influenced Golden Lady take me back to a hot Sunday afternoon in Florida with warm gentle breezes blowing on my face as I drive home from the beach. Stevie Wonder's release of Innervisions is one of my favorites. It still amazes me how a song can take me back to a place in time.

As with many of Stevie Wonder's albums the lyrics, composition and production are almost entirely his own work. He is, in my opinion, one of the musical geniuses of our generation.

Innervisions won Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Best Engineered-Classical Recording in 1974, while "Living for the City" won the Grammy for Best R&B Song.

Innervisions is considered by many fans, critics, and colleagues to be one of the greatest albums in pop music history. In 2001, VH1 named it the 31st greatest album of all time, making it the top ranked Stevie Wonder album. In 2003, the album was ranked number 23 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

It also amazes me how the same song in a different place and time can have another meaning entirely depending on the mood I'm in when I listen to the song.

Selected lyrics from the song follows . . .

Looking at your hands

Hands can understand

Waiting for the chance

Just to hold your hand

A touch of rain and sunshine made the flower grow

Into a lovely smile that's blooming

And it's so clear to me that you're a dream come true

There's no way that I'll be losing

Donna Summer - Four Seasons of Love - 1976

~ Spring Affair | Donna Summer ~

~ Summer Fever | Donna Summer ~

~ Autumn Changes | Donna Summer ~

~ Winter Melody | Donna Summer ~

~ Spring Reprise | Donna Summer ~

Step aside Barry White . . . in my opinion, Donna Summer, the queen of disco holds the distinction of having the most sensual and romantic recording ever . . . Four Seasons of Love. It is one of my all time favorite recordings . . .

This is a concept recording of sorts . . . with Donna sensually whispering one long disco ode to each season. The hypnotic, smooth dance grooves that maintain a sexy mood remind of me of the Diana Ross recording of "Love Hangover" . . .

Donna Summer is timeless . . . her soulful, sensual voice has been heard in a number of different styles of music through decades of her recordings . . . all of which you will be able to listen to on my playlists.

DID YOU KNOW?
Donna Summer was a backup singer for

Three Dog Night

Toni Braxton - Suddenly

~ Suddenly | Toni Braxton ~

"Suddenly" was written and produced by Richard Marx for the 2006 European edition of singer-songwriter Toni Braxton's fifth studio album, Libra (2005). I'm wondering why it was not included on all editions . . . it is the most awesome song on the album . . . hmmmm.

The song was internationally released as the album's lead single in February 2006 . . . it failed to make the charts anywhere. I don't understand why . . . it is a gorgeous romantic song!

Is romance dead or something in this society we are living in?

The song "Suddenly" has swept me away with its romantic implications . . .
this song reminds me of this exact moment of my life . . . it doesn't get better than this!

Suddenly | Toni Braxton
Lyrics

it only took a moment
a solitary glance
and i could hear the voice of rapture call
i’ve loved you from a distance
afraid to take a chance
and now it seems i can’t help but to fall
imagine my surprise
to open up my eyes
and find that you were looking back

and suddenly
i can not remember who i used to be
and like the rain this yearning washes over me
and all the pain i knew before is gone
and suddenly
i’m no longer drifting on an empty sea
and now i know that i believe in destiny
and mine is waiting right here in your arms

i longed to awake besides you
and bathe in love's abyss
washing all that comes before away
and in this frozen moment as i receive your kiss
there will not be words enough to say
i wanna make you melt, touch you like noone else
and do it all again a thousand times

and suddenly
I can not remember who i used to be
and like the rain this yearning washes over me
and all the pain i knew before is gone
and suddenly
I'm no longer drifting on an empty sea
and now i know that i believe in destiny
and mine is waiting right here in your arms

in your arms

i wanna make you melt, touch you like no one else
and do it all again a thousand times

and suddenly
i can not remember who i used to be
and like the rain this yearning washes over me
and all the pain i knew before is gone
and suddenly
i’m no longer drifting on an empty sea
and now i know that i believe in destiny
and mine is waiting right here in your arms

Walk Away - Blue

The music of Blue is another recent musical discovery that is like a treasure.

This is an older post . . . I'm in the process of fixing the music
on my older blogs thanks to You Tube deleting videos from
their website . . . grrrrrrr!

~ Walk Away | Blue ~

They are no longer together as a group, however, some of them have gone on as a solo act. I've checked out some of Simon Webbe's music and it is awesome!

More on these guys to come, I love them!

Official Blue Website

Walk Away is my very favorite song of all of them, maybe since I could so relate to the song when I first discovered the music of Blue. In awful economic times, I walked away from a job that paid excellent money with unlimited overtime.

Every time I listen to this song I wonder if I took the right fork in the road for the sake of being true to myself . . . I love the way music makes me look at life :-)

Walk Away | Blue
Lyrics

Is this masquerade finally over
Can we put down the roles that we've played so many times
Is this really the final curtain
The end of the play
Or will we just dance this dance we've danced again and again and again

[Chorus]
Once again I walk away
There's no turning back this time baby
Once again I walk away
With every step I leave you behind me
Once again I walk away
Determined this time you'll be sorry
Once again I walk away
But if you ask me you know that I'd stay

If we put out the sun and stopped it from shining
Girl we both know
We still couldn't be anymore in the dark
Ooh there's no flashlight
There's no insight
As hard as we try
Ooh we keep running round in circles
Time after time, hello, goodbye

[Chorus]

Is this really the final curtain
The end of the play
Or will we just dance this dance we've danced again and again and again

[Chorus]

I walk away
I walk away
But I know that I'll be back again

Donna Summer . . . A Love Trilogy

~ Try Me, I Know We Can Make It | Donna Summer ~

~ Intro - Prelude To Love - Could It Be Magic | Donna Summer ~

~ Wasted | Donna Summer ~

~ Come With Me | Donna Summer ~

The sensual sounds of one of

Donna Summer's earlier albums . . . A Love Trilogy

My favorite of all of them!

A Love Trilogy is the third album by Donna Summer. It was released in the spring of 1976, just a couple of months after her international breakthrough with the single and album of the same name - Love To Love You Baby.

The raunchy and sexual nature of that particular song had earned Summer the title "The first lady of love." By now Summer's work was being distributed in the U.S. by Casablanca Records, and they in particular were keen for her to continue portraying this image, despite her not being completely comfortable with it. As such, the Love Trilogy album continued in the same vein with the first side being taken up entirely by one long disco track - in this case "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It".

Side Two contained the actual "love trilogy" with a further three sexually-orientated disco songs, including a cover of Barry Manilow's Could It Be Magic. The album's artwork showed Summer floating light-heartedly through the clouds, again adding to the image of her as a fantasy figure.
While the album sold well across the world, (it was her second, consecutive album to be certified Gold in the United States) it failed to produce a successful follow-up single to "Love To Love You Baby". Edited versions of "Try Me, I Know We Can Make It" and "Could It Be Magic" charted in some nations, but sales figures did not come close to those of her breakthrough single.

Pamela ~ Awesome Music from Turkey

Some music from around the world . . . today's blog . . . Turkey . . . Pamela Spence ~ you will never think of middle eastern music the same again . . .

I've mentioned that I have discovered middle eastern music and there is some that I really love. Recently, I had a computer crash and lost a lot of my middle eastern music I had collected during the past couple of years. Some of it I had backed up and put on cd, but for some reason my favorite music was nowhere to be found. To make matters worse, the website I got all my middle eastern music from was no longer online. The others were in arabic, which I can't read.

This one artist in particular drove me nuts because I absolutely loved her music and could not find it anywhere, and I have looked for months . . . I'll call it arabic punk rock . . . all I knew is that she was from Turkey. Call it determination, but finally . . . I found it was Pamela I have been looking for . . . Pamela absolutely rocks . . . she is like Gwen Stefani meets Blondie!

Within Turkey, she is popularly known by her first name only . . . Pamela.

Born in Germany . . . parents British American father and a Turkish mother . . . sings in Turkish, a language she learned at 15, after her family moved to Turkey. In addition to her solo career, she has collaborated with a number of other music artists including Teoman and has acted in several musicals.

The Night Lennon Died

"Love is a promise,

love is a souvenir,

once given never forgotten,

never let it disappear."

- John Lennon, the man, the myth, the Beatle

The story . . . "BBC News Online's entertainment correspondent Tom Brook was the first British radio reporter on the scene outside the Dakota apartment building in New York the night John Lennon died.

From his vantage point in a telephone kiosk a few yards from where Lennon was killed he filed live reports to BBC Radio 4's Today Programme bringing the first news of the former Beatle's death to a shocked British audience."

Here is the link to the rest of the story and links to other related stories:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/1060306.stm

December 8, 1980 . . . so long ago, but I remember details of that time in my life and John Lennon's death is weaved into the memories. It was a big deal and heavily reported . . . Lennon music dominated the airwaves. You heard about it being discussed anywhere you went.

I was a newlywed, approaching our first Christmas together as a married couple . . . one of the happiest times of my life, dampened by the death of an icon of my generation who was supposed to live forever.

One of the things I remember is shopping for Christmas ornaments at one of those cool Christmas stores with my cousin Leslie. I even remember some of the ornaments I bought like it was yesterday. We discussed his death and the desire for the news of it to go away already, it was Christmas time, we expressed a desire to go back to normal and enjoy the happiness of the season without the constant reminder that we had gone through the death of a music era, an icon, one of my heroes, with no chance of a Beatles reunion . . . ever.

My memories work in strange ways . . . every time I hear the song "Hey Jude", it takes me back to that day picking out Christmas ornaments and that whole time around Lennon's death. A flash of a little fuzzy teddy bear ornament wearing a red bow comes to mind. The memories that a song will bring back for me is amazing . . . weaving a song, a Christmas season, a teddy bear ornament and associating all that with Lennon's death.

Landslide - Fleetwood Mac

~ Landslide Remix | Stevie Nicks ~

Landslide was written by Stevie Nicks and originally performed by Fleetwood Mac. It was first featured on the band's 1975 album Fleetwood Mac.

Music is what I turn to when I want to think and back in the day Fleetwood Mac music is like having an old friend around. Landslide is one of my favorite songs of all time and as I listened to the words, I realized that is how I am feeling and the emotions going on inside of me. And oh so scared of the changes.

My mind wandered to another time in my life when I saw Fleetwood Mac in concert . . . they were touring with the Eagles and it was one of the best concerts I ever went to. Happy days . . . a long time ago!

I've often wondered what was going on in Stevie Nicks' mind when she wrote this song . . . and today I found the answer . . .

Nicks: "My Dad did have something to do with it, but he absolutely thinks that he was the whole complete reason it was ever written.

I guess it was about September 1974, I was home at my Dad and Mom's house in Phoenix, and my father said, 'You know, you really put a lot of time into this [her singing career], maybe you should give this six more months, and if you want to go back to school, we'll pay for it. Basically you can do whatever you want and we'll pay for it - I have wonderful parents, and I went, 'cool, I can do that.'

Lindsey and I went up to Aspen, and we went to somebody's incredible house, and they had a piano, and I had my guitar with me, and I went into their living room, looking out over the incredible Aspen skyway, and I wrote "Landslide." Three months later, Mick Fleetwood called on New Year's Eve 1974 and asked us to join Fleetwood Mac.

So it was three months, I still had three more months to go to beat my six month goal that my dad gave me."

Although it wasn't released as a single, the quality of the song has endured the test of time and has gone on to be covered by Smashing Pumpkins, Tori Amos, Dixie Chicks . . . to name a few. I'm sure many more will follow. Landslide is one of those timeless songs that will be reborn as new music lovers and musicians emerge through time.

The version of the song loaded in the player is my favorite . . . an awesome Stevie Nicks remix.

Fleetwood Mac ~ Landslide
Lyrics

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail thru the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life

Well, I've been afraid of changing
cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too

Oh, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down

If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well maybe the landslide will bring it down

I'll Always Love You . . . Taylor Dayne

Taylor Dayne was an instant worldwide sensation with the dance-pop hit "Tell It To My Heart" in 1987 which hit the top 5 in every major worldwide music market.

"I'll Always Love You" from the album "Tell It To My Heart" peaked at #3 on the US Billboard charts in 1988 . . . it was a change-of-pace ballad from her previous releases and her breakout hit on the Adult Contemporary charts in 1988 which paved the way for future uptempo dance tracks such as "Don't Rush Me" and "With Every Beat Of My Heart" to gain acceptance in the mainstream music scene.

This post is dedicated to the one
I have been searching for and
will love forever . . . my gift from God.

I love you my pirate!

Lyrics

I'll always love you for the rest of my days.
You have won my heart and my soul with your sweet, sexy ways.
You gave me hope when I needed someone near.
You bring me happiness every day of every year.

I'll always love you for all that you are.
You have made my life complete, you're my lucky star.
You are the one that I've been searching for.
You are my everything, tell me who could ask for more.

And I'll always love you, Honey, this will never end.
I need you by my side, baby, you're my lover, my friend. My friend.

You gave my world a thrill I've never known.
And filled my eager heart with a love to call my own.

And I'll always love you, you must know how much I do.
You can count on me forever and I will take good care of you.

I'll always love you, I'm so happy that you're mine.
I'll always love you, yes, till the end of time.
