Miss You - Rolling Stones

On this day in 1978 . . .

Miss You by the Rolling Stones

was the #1 song in the United States,

according to Billboard Magazine.

"Miss You" was written by singer Mick Jagger while jamming with Billy Preston during rehearsals. Guitarist Keith Richards is credited for co-writing, although Mick Jagger is generally regarded as the principal composer.

The single, their 8th hit in the US, was released on May 19, 1978 . . . from the album Some Girls . . . the first Rolling Stones single with prominent disco influences, the music of the time.

The lyrics were inspired by Mick Jagger's deteriorating relationship with his wife, Bianca.

Lyrics

I've been holding out so long
I've been sleeping all alone
Lord I miss you
I've been hanging on the phone
I've been sleeping all alone
I want to kiss you

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh

Well, I've been haunted in my sleep
You've been staring in my dreams
Lord I miss you.
I've been waiting in the hall
Been waiting on your call
When the phone rings
It's just some friends of mine that say,
"Hey, what's the matter man?
We're gonna come around at twelve
With some Puerto Rican girls that are just dyin' to meet you
We're gonna bring a case of wine
Hey, let's go mess and fool around
You know, like we used to"

Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah

Oh everybody waits so long
Oh baby why you wait so long
Won't you come on! Come on!

I've been walking Central Park
Singing after dark
People think I'm crazy
I've been stumbling on my feet
Shuffling through the street
People ask me, "What's the matter with you boy?"

Sometimes I want to say to myself
Sometimes I say

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh

Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
I won't miss you child

I guess I'm lying to myself
It's just you and no one else
Lord I won't miss you child
You've been blotting out my mind
Fooling on my time
No, I won't miss you, baby, yeah

Lord, I miss you child

Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah

Lord, I miss you child

Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah

Lord, I miss you child

Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah
Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah

Fairy Tale ~ Toni Braxton

Fairy Tale | Toni Braxton

"Tell me how I love you wins"

I understand it clearly now, there are many forms of love

The words I love you can have many meanings

This is one of my favorite songs of all time . . . another song that
has had different meanings at different times of my life.

I've been praying about something very specific and
asked for an undeniable and unquestionable answer.

I got my answer where I honestly did not expect it
and something that could have only come from God.

He works in mysterious ways for sure and also
 has a sense of humor.

It is reassurance that everything is going to be ok.

The song reminds me that all those little things that we
think are so important really don't matter in the
 grand scheme of things.

Thank you to all my friends who have been praying for me.

The song Fairy Tale, written by Marc Harris, Tommy Sims, Babyface (produced by Babyface) appears on the album "The Heat" released April 25, 2000.

It was never released as a single although it should have been!  Awesome song with a great message.

LYRICS:

And if I was wrong I know I don't deserve this
Don't stay too long, I need to hear those words you use to tell me
From way back when we were just friends
Before this love affair began

Tell me how I love you wins
Or how a broken heart can mend
Just tell me this is not the end
Please tell me now
How the fairy tale begins
Or how it was supposed to end
Please tell me that part again

Now tell me whats wrong I never meant to hurt you no baby ooh
Was it the home, the car, or darling all those things we thought we needed
Tell me even if it ain't true
But baby please don't say were through

Tell me how I love you wins
Or how a broken heart can mend
Just tell me this is not the end
Please tell me now
How the fairy tale begins
Or how it was supposed to end
Please tell me that part again

I wanna know that
Feelin thats from way back
A time when it was true that love was sweet and innocent
When you and I could still be friends
Make all the wrong be right again
Where true love never has to end

Tell me how I love you wins
Or how a broken heart can mend
Just tell me this is not the end
Please tell me now
How the fairy tale begins
Or how it was supposed to end
Please tell me that part again

the Cars - Double Trouble

Lyrics

they got a line on you
little bit of trouble too
you got some jets inside
cherry lips and delirious eyes
you get in trouble
and it keeps you down
double trouble
you get in trouble
when you come to town
double trouble
they better chain your hands
spread some evil
pick and pan
you got some jets inside
you have to live
with those empty eyes
you got some jets inside
broken promises
broken pride

Julian Lennon - Valotte - 1984

His debut recording, Valotte, debuted in 1984 . . . the son of John Lennon came on the music scene with much fanfare and his music did not disappoint . . . it was fabulous. Actually, I personally enjoyed it much more than the solo music of John Lennon.

Valotte is one of my all time favorite recordings . . . and my featured song, Too Late For Goodbyes, is one of my all time favorite songs. This is the extended version . . . as you can probably tell from my playlists, I love dance remixes and extended versions of my favorite songs.

I've wondered what it was about Julian Lennon that kept him from being the huge commercial success that he should have been. Not because he is John Lennon's son, although with those creative genes running through his blood, he has to be boiling over with tons of awesome tunes to knock our socks off.

Being the gambler than I am, I'd put money on him coming back with some staying power . . . maybe he was too young and possibly too rich and immature the first time around. There is something to be said about having that burning desire and need to succeed, not only for the creative endeavor, but to survive. We all know this guy will never have to worry about making money . . .

What's Victoria's Secret - Rick Springfield

He's back . . . and gorgeous as ever :)

I tuned in to General Hospital the other day
and he's back there too.

Rick Springfield's new CD,
"Venus in Overdrive" release date is July 29.

Here is a video of his first single, What's Victoria's Secret
with a familiar riff reminiscent of Jessie's Girl, but I love it.

Oh . . . doesn't he look good in black leather?

Times Like These - Foo Fighters (updated)

Times Like These | Lyrics

I am a one way motorway

I’m the one that drives away

Then follows you back home

I am a street light shining

I’m a wild light blinding bright

Burning off alone

It’s times like these you learn to live again

It’s times like these you give and give again

It’s times like these you learn to love again

It’s times like these time and time again

I am a new day rising

I’m a brand new sky

To hang the stars upon tonight

I am a little divided

Do I stay or run away

And leave it all behind?

It’s times like these you learn to live again

It’s times like these you give and give again

It’s times like these you learn to love again

It’s times like these time and time again

Today I am a street light shining and all the lights are green. Maybe my happy mood can be attributed to the gorgeous sunshiny day in Florida. Is it a myth that sunshine psychologically puts you in an uplifted mood like some sort of chemistry?

My positive vibes and new outlook on life have brought me brighter days although I have done a lot of thinking which brought painful memories. Sorry if I bring anyone down with my bittersweet blogs, but you know, that is life and you have to look at the good and the bad. Sweeping bad memories under the rug does not make them go away, you have to deal with them. I'm here to show the world that you can go through the worst thing a person can go through and live to tell the story, even with the rocky and winding roads. That's life, but my message is that there is always hope as long as you have faith and have a positive attitude.

Times like these . . . awesome song by the Foo Fighters. Love this band . . . I love bands that are born from other bands. Look for a new blog on the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl . . . love them! My favorite bands that are a regrouping of old bands are Traveling Wilburys and Damn Yankees.
